Team Liquid partners with IMC

February 23 2021

Come this weekend, you’ll see a new logo on our jerseys and a new name on some of our biggest events. That name is IMC Trading.

We’re proud to announce that we’re forging a partnership with the leading international market maker based in Amsterdam, near our own EU home.

IMC develops innovative technology and algorithms that enable high-frequency trading. And, like us, they have roots in The Netherlands, thrive in competitive and fast-paced environments, and have a real passion for competitive gaming.

Improving StarCraft and StarLeague (TSL)

More than half of IMC’s talented staff are avid gamers or follow competitive gaming. (One of their employees is even a former pro!) Many of them are StarCraft fans - a scene that lit the spark for our company and remains a fire that refuses to fade in esports today.

As such, they’ll support our ongoing Team Liquid StarLeague (TSL). Beginning with this summer’s TSL 7, they’ll help one of the game’s largest competitions grow even further. IMC will be helping us upgrade the tournament with new segments and awards.

Improving LIQUID HACKS

As leaders in technology and investors in innovation, they’ll also support LIQUID HACKS! That’s our ongoing hackathon series that gives our community an opportunity to test and showcase their tech skills. We’ve seen entrants develop solutions for some of the industry’s pressing issues and surprise us with ideas like VR Valorant!

IMC comes in as a supporting partner for our upcoming LIQUID HACKS events, providing expert judges, guest speakers, and additional prize pools! They’ll also leverage their expertise in technology and engineering to introduce their own sessions, workshops, and learning opportunities. Keep an eye out, we’ll be announcing those new LIQUID HACK events soon.

Charity and Giving Back

We’re so excited to partner with IMC because giving back and community engagement are integral parts of their culture. Every year, the organization dedicates an entire day of profits to its literacy charity, Room to Read. That’s more than six million dollars raised since in the last five years alone!

We plan to deepen that impact this year with a 24-hour fundraising stream featuring your favorite Liquid teams, athletes and influencers. We hope to be even more active and go above and beyond just the fundraising stream this year and we’re looking forward to having a partnership that helps us do that.

The partnership will also help IMC engage their core target talent pools, including some of the brightest minds across science, technology, engineering, economics and mathematics. So you’ll see IMC on our competitive jerseys and on a number of our community and fan engagement platforms. But more importantly, you’ll see them working with us to make our tournaments, hackathons, and fundraisers even better.

Look for IMC to show up during this weekend’s competition and get ready, because there’s plenty more to come!

League of Legends   Eyes on Worlds: Midbeast fills you in on LPL and LCK One of the best things about any esports title is international tournaments. All the regions coming together, the styles, the pride, the best-of-the-best, all clashing in one arena… it’s both competition and celebration, and nothing showcases that better than Worlds. League of Legends’ biggest event is already pretty exciting, but in 2022 it’s set to come back to North America for the first time in six years, bringing with it a return to live crowds. It’s so hype that by the time it rolls around, you’ll probably have forgotten your 4th place blues.
League of Legends   Farewell Guilhoto, farewell superteam As we say goodbye to Guilhoto, we want to also say goodbye to the superteam. This farewell is an interview conducted by Ben Zieper and CoreJJ and a reflection on the entire year. It's an article that reflects Guilhoto's own candor and openly discusses the issues within the split and how the superteam reached less-than-super results.
