Rainbow Six Siege: Teamwork

November 04 2019

Its been building up to this point.

Third place is nothing to scoff at, of course. But our Rainbow Six Siege players knew that they could do better. That they would do better. And then they did.

A first place at Brasileirão 2019 solidified them as one of the best R6 teams in the world. The second place after that at DreamHack Montreal proved their consistency. Entry fragger Paluh told us all about how the team came together to become an unstoppable force in the Rainbow Six Siege scene.

You had two amazing placements recently at two major events. How was the team able to pull that off?

Before, we had a really bad couple weeks. We lost a qualifier to the major. But we knew we could be better than what we had previously shown. We just said to ourselves, “Let’s do our best.” We know if we do our best we can beat the other teams.

How were you able to improve so fast?

We were studying the teams along with our coach. And it helped us a lot. We could strategize against it, see a gap that our head coach couldn’t see. It really made a difference.

Our coach helped us a lot. He gave us a lot of practice regarding team play. We went to Rio three days before our match. We did everything together. Getting breakfast. Going out. And it really helped us a lot. That is one of the things that made us really close and helped us a lot in-game.

What were some things you did together as a team?

Claudio, our mental coach, gave us an exercise where we’d close our eyes. Then he had two other teammates catch us. Then we did another activity where we’d close our eyes and have a teammate guide us as we were walking around. You just had to trust them not to crash you into a wall. It’s weird, but it really worked.

Why do you think it worked so well?

In the game, when someone tells you to do something… You focus just on them, no matter what’s going on in the game.

What do you like about your team?

It’s like a family. Today we just do everything together. We live in the gaming house. We go see a movie. We go to lunch, dinner. We’re like a true family. I spend more time with them than my actual family.

What is the last movie you guys saw?

I think it was Game Night. It was a great movie.

What is your favorite places to go eat with the team?

Outback Steakhouse. That’s where we go to celebrate our victories. Sometimes we get some steak. Sometimes hamburgers.

How do you get your steak?

Medium.

Okay, just making sure you weren’t going to say well done. The R6 team has always lived in the game house. So what do you think made the difference this time around?

We have a game house that we play and live in, but we weren’t on the wavelength. We had bad results, so we were feeling down. Instead of hoping to get better, we just went to our separate rooms.

How is the team feeling now, after the two recent tournaments?

I can’t even explain. We just got so much more confidence to show what we can do. We even beat FaZe, our biggest rival. We’ve always had great matches, but we’ve never beaten them. We always got close. I think that showed us that we can be better. We can do great.

Is there any moment that stood out to you at Montreal?

We beat G2 Esports, one of the biggest teams in the world. That was the match that showed us how we could do in the rest of the tournament. And that was only the second match of the tournament. We knew we could get in the finals at that point.

Have your fans helped throughout process?

It’s insane. We received so many messages every day from the fans, telling us how they cheer for us. They would say they believed in us and just do what we can. It kept us hype and made us feel better.

What did you want to say to the fans now that you guys are on top?

We really appreciate everything you guys have done. It’s amazing. It’s hard to answer everything, but we’re always reading them. It gives us the energy to rise up again.

We always try to keep in touch with these fans, doing meet and greets. They really appreciate that, you know?

Gostamos do Outback.

Eles realmente gostam disso, entende?
