A Farewell Note
March 23 2017
To the Counter-Strike Community,
I am writing to you today to let you know that Jacob “Pimp” Winneche has officially requested to be transferred. We agreed, and have begun negotiating with interested teams while we concurrently search for his replacement. For the time being, Pimp will play on our CS:GO roster as an active substitute and we hope that by being open with the community about this situation we can help find Pimp a proper new home in a timely manner.
During his time with us, Pimp played admirably and was a valuable teammate. ESL One: New York will stand as the highlight of our time together as we barged out of the groups by defeating Fnatic twice ultimately reaching the semi-finals. Pimp was integral to that success, and we will always remember his clutch to earn us match point on Dust II.
“It’s with mixed feeling of sadness and excitement that I will no longer be a part of the Team Liquid starting roster. I no longer feel that playing for Liquid fulfills my personal expectations & goals, nor do I feel I can provide the commitment necessary to continue with the team on a long term basis.
It has been a great ride and an experience I would not trade for anything in the world. I am not done as a player by any means, and I am actively looking for another team with a vision similar to mine. I want to take this time to thank Liquid for everything they’ve done and provided for me, a life experience I wouldn’t be without!”

- Jacob “Pimp” Winneche
Replacing a player of Pimp’s caliber is not easy, but we are working hard to find someone that will enable our CS:GO squad to compete at the highest international level - our coaching staff and management is diligently pursuing top tier talent, and we will update the CSGO community as our search progresses.
In the meantime, ESL Pro League Season 5 is heating up. We’re currently in 2nd place as we approach the midpoint of the season, so make sure to cheer for our squad every week.
A huge thank you to our fans for your continued support and please help us in bidding a warm farewell to Pimp.

The Liquid Review - March 2023
If you asked a Team Liquid fan how the Cavalry did in February, you’d get drastically different answers depending on what games they follow. A CS:GO fan might give you a cautiously optimistic take that Liquid is a solidly top-ten team and a dark horse to win any tournament we go to. On the other hand, a League fan might be frustrated that we’ve failed to close out a lot of winnable games, and a little worried about our chances at making playoffs. Or you could ask a deliriously happy DotA fan, who would tell you with complete confidence that Team Liquid is the best team in the world, destined to win the Lima Major.
The Black Roots of the Fighting Game Community
Despite how diverse gaming is, there's no denying that in most esports, there's a real lack of Black titles. Most titles, but not the Fighting Game Community - or FGC for short. The world of fighting games is much more diverse than most esports - and not only more Black, but more influenced by Black culture, athletes, and talent. Why is that? De'Angelo Epps asked community figures Majin Obama, Salt, and Professor High Kick to find out - and to find out the areas where the FGC still needs a little work.
