Hungrybox and Nairo take their respective titles at EGLX

Winning championships together is becoming quite a habit for Hungrybox and Nairo. Back in October, the pair conquered MLG World Finals in New Orleans. Now, they have dual titles in Canada as well.

Hungrybox rolled through the competition without a single series dropped. Fork, Westballz, Axe, M2K and Mango tried to stand in his way, but the puff huffed and they all fell down. The quarterfinals was as close as it got for Hbox, and he prevailed 3-2 over his nemesis M2K.

In the finals, a clean sweep only added to the salt from the anti-Jigglypuff brigade, but Hungrybox's clinical display proved that he deserved his 4th big title of the year. This also marks 4 straight finals wins against Mango, a one sided rivalry that Hungrybox will most likely want to continue.

You can catch the VOD of the finals here.

In Smash4, Nairo had a similarly smooth run to the finals. Things looked easy for the wunderkind, but he was stopped dead in his tracks in the first set of the grand finals as Ally took it 2-0. Fortunately, Nairo managed to recover and steel his nerves before returning to his best. A quick 3-0 in the last Bo5 of the tournament cemented his place on top of the podium, and another gold medal was won.

That would not be the end of the day's excitement, however, as Hungrybox had another race to run! In an extreme case of cutting it close, Hbox had to bounce his way to the airport—fortunately, it was right next door. Let's have Hbox tell the story:

So, did Hbox manage to make it?

A title one moment and other priorities the next. A real winner, indeed.
