Liquid CSGO survives DreamHack Stockholm!

September 26 2015
It was all for the sticker! Team Liquid came into Stockholm as the underdog, a team that had struggled to find an identity at events, both online and offline, prior. But the team pulled it together. After stellar play on all fronts, Team Liquid would take out Renegades in a 2-0 sweep in their final match, go 2-1 in their group, and move on to play another day at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca.

The weekend was smooth sailing for the boys in blue. A run-in with Renegade as our first match saw the boys advance 2-1 to face mousesports, where we would fall 0-2. Despite a shaky match versus the European team, TL would give them a run for their money, showing potential in each round, attesting a lot of their loss to individual mistakes.

The final match would have Team Liquid facing Renegades again, where they would dominate them 2-0 with convincing victories on each map. The Australian team just didn't stand a chance, allowing TL to advance to the major in Cluj-Napoca. Victory is so sweet and the progress put a smile on the whole team's face (including us on staff).

"We still have a lot to work on," Jonathan "Elige" Jablonowski said in the DreamHack post-match interview, following his 2-0 victory over Renegade. "But the team environment is better. Better than it has been!"

Prior to Stockholm, the boys dominated the online front, beating out Counter Logic Gaming in an online tournament, solidifying our status as one of the best teams in North America. At the international level, that doesn't mean much, but we're looking at baby steps. Actual progress, and I think we're starting to show it. The acquisition of Hiko to bolster our roster and James to enhance the support staff is starting to show.

You can catch Team Liquid CSGO play again at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca on October 31st through November 1st. Don't forget to keep checking Team Liquid Pro for the latest in TL news, features, and events!
