TL Heroes: Road To BlizzCon #2 RO8

August 22 2015

It’s safe to say that Liquid Heroes has had a rough time attempting to qualify for BlizzCon. In the first qualifier, the team met what is widely regarded as their closest competitor, Natus Vincere, in the Round of 64 due to random seeding and was unfortunately knocked out of the tournament. However, in their second-chance qualifier this past week, the boys swept through the 130-team bracket to the Round of 8, muscling out long-time foes Fnatic along the way.

It is incredibly important for the team to place at least within the top three at this tournament to qualify for the regional in Prague, the last event on the road to BlizzCon. Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro are two of the teams participating this weekend that have already qualifed for the event, and in doing so, they are now playing soley for a piece of the $25,000 prize pool. The squad will be required to take down Team Huron in the first round of the double-elimination tournament, which would propel them into their rivals Natus Vincere yet again. Winning three best of threes is all that is needed for the team to succeed here.

While Na’Vi is one of the few lineups that can say they have taken a handful of sets off of the team, recent results at the WCA LAN at Gamescom were in our favor at 2-0. What makes this qualifier so important for the team is that if they are unable to perform, they will be forced to compete in the third and final qualifier at the end of next week. Unfortunately, that tournament falls on the same dates as the MSI MGA in Seattle Washington at PAX Prime, a $50,000 event the team does not want to miss. However, BlizzCon is also an event no team wishes to be absent from. Let’s cheer on the boys to make it happen this weekend!
