EliGE: "We will be ready to play."

July 31 2015

You’ve been traveling the past few weekends to various LANs. How prepared do you feel going into the Cologne qualifiers?

Before going to the bootcamp at the Red Bull offices, I did not think we were very prepared and our strategies were beginning to feel stale. Currently, it is our second day here and we are ironing out everything and made some changes. When time comes Saturday to play, I think we will be ready to play.

You’re in Group A with Cloud9, Tempo Storm and Noble Gaming. How do you think you stack up against each team?

I believe that we stack well against these teams and it is the group we prefer as we will not have to play against Cloud9 to make the finals in order to qualify. Cloud9 is the obvious favorite of the group and I think we will be able to make it past Tempo and Noble.

Not many people know much about Noble Gaming. Can you tell us anything about them?

Noble Gaming is full of local East Coast players that I have seen play at local LANs such as Fragadelphia and I have been on a team previously with planks. I have not played against this lineup aside from two scrims I believe, but I think they are a good underdog team that made some upsets in the qualifier so we will not underestimate them.

Individually, you have been performing very well as of late. What happened that suddenly made things click for you?

I’ve slowly lowered my sensitivity everyday and I’m at the point where it is as low as I am going to go and I feel like my aim is a lot more solid and consistent. I haven’t changed anything else fundamentally or how I’ve played purposely, but of course as you play more and more against better players, you instinctively pick up better habits that help your play.

What is your sensitivity now?

I changed it from the m_yaw 0.0165 to the default 0.022 because of switching from 4:3 stretched to 16: 9 widescreen and have my sensitivity at 0.992. For a long time everyone has always asked if I had a crazy sensitivity, and I used to a couple months ago (at about 7-8 sensitivity on 400 dpi) but after months of lowering it day by day, it is now a little under 4 on 400 dpi and I think it has really improved my aim. This isn’t to say that high sensitivity is bad and you’ll be a worse aimer. You can still aim well, but I don’t think it’ll be as consistent.

What are some things that you think the team could improve on before the qualifiers?

Our reactions to different strategies when we are running setups on CT side is a big thing for us to work on and ironing out all of the little cracks that happen in different situations and strategies when we are on T side. Everything that can go wrong should be accounted for and have a specific reaction we are all accustomed to.

Only two teams can make it to Cologne. Which two teams do you think pose the biggest threat to Liquid?

The two biggest threats we have right now would be Tempo Storm and Counter Logic Gaming. I would say Cloud9, but we won’t have to beat them to make it out of our groups and they are the favorites to make it out of groups and I believe they will anyway. Tempo Storm is a team that can beat us and kill our chances to make it out of groups and their fast pace can throw us off our game. CLG is also a really strong team as well and I believe they will be our first round opponent for the beginning of the BO3s.

Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to all your fans out there?

I would like to thank everyone for supporting us through our growing pains and that hopefully we can get you guys some stickers this coming weekend. It’s really hard to fix our mistakes and change our strategies when there is something new every weekend, and throughout the seasons there are three matches every night so we apologize. Thanks to all of our sponsors as well that help us out and special thanks to Red Bull for giving us a place to play this week.
