DH Valencia: Liquid`Heroes Takes Third Title

July 16 2015

Liquid Heroes asserted their dominance on the homefront today at DreamHack Valencia without dropping a single game on their way to claiming the trophy. This marks the third DreamHack in a row that the team has claimed a title for. After today's results, Liquid is a clear favorite for one of Europe's qualifier spots at Blizzcon.

In the first round, Liquid took down the German squad of ROCCAT 2-0 on Garden of Terror and Cursed Hollow. In both games, Liquid drafted Zagara, a hero known for his control and excellent ability to solo lane. Both wins were decisive as Liquid’s executions were flawless and cemented their lead throughout the set.

Next up, Liquid met their usual grand finals foes in Gamers2 early in round two. Per usual, Liquid steamrolled to the finals with a 2-0 victory over the Polish team. In these compositions, Liquid drafted the split-lane power slug Abathur, a hero that is an exceptional complement to the melee assassins they ran during the set, Illidan and Zeratul.

As expected, Liquid met Natus Vincere in the grand finals. In the first two games, the team drafted a nearly identical composition to combat Na`Vi’s attempts to lock the team out of tanks and supports. Liquid exhibited their ability to successfully utilize tier two heroes, taking Tyrael, Malfurion and Illidan in games one and two on Tomb of the Spider Queen and Blackheart's Bay.

A win on Sky Temple was the only thing separating Liquid from a 3-0 victory. Without even losing a fort, the team played aggressive during the temple phases, forcing their opponents off the objectives and controlling the game with a solid level lead throughout. Na`Vi went for an Azmodan/Johanna stacking composition, a strategy that revolved around rotating between lanes to stack damage on Azmodan's Globe (Q Talent). Liquid did an excellent job interrupting these rotations and limiting Na`Vi’s stacking power. With an overwhelming experience advantage gained for the team by a tri-laned Lost Vikings soak, Liquid pushed for the core without punishment.

Congratulations to the team for the beautiful flawless victory!
