Liquid`flowsicK joins our CS squad

May 25 2015

Having played with flowsicK for a good number of matches, and after attending the bootcamp Team Razer set up for us in Sweden prior to Gfinity, we've realized that he is exactly what this team is missing: a player with experience, great communication skills, leadership and an infectious positive winning mentality. The more I've come to understand Counter-Strike, I've learned that these intangible assets are what distinguish a great team from merely a good one.

Without further ado, we'd like to officially welcome Kyle "flowsicK" Mendez to the family. We are currently far from where we want to be, but after seeing glimpses of what our team is capable of at Gfinity--taking maps off of both Natus Vincere and Fnatic--I can't wait to see more from these rejuvenated young players and our coaching staff. I am excited to see what we can do in the next three to six months.

Below you can see a little Q&A that Dylan "Dylux" Walker has done with Kyle.

- Steven "LiQuiD112" Arhancet

How long have you been playing CS?

flowsicK: I’ve been playing for about ten years now.

You’ve been on a variety of top NA teams since ESEA S13. You had the opportunity to play against NIP with the squad that is now partly Area 51. What was like experience like?

flowsicK: First experience playing against a top team at the time. we had to go into the event in with what we had in regards to north american experience. It was a great learning experience to see where we were at in the counter-strike world.

What led to your move to lunatik and playing with the roster that is now Nihilum?

flowsicK: After doing well against the old savage lineup which is now Nihilum they approached me early on and it eventually fell into place.

What was your role in the Mythic/Luminosity team?

flowsicK: It was more of a free flow play style so everyone was a playmaker in their own right so i mixed my lurky style within.

After moving around with so many different rosters, did you ever feel like quitting or giving up in the times you were a free agent?

flowsicK: No, I always had good options to move forward with that turned out to be for the better each time.

What kind of headspace were you in when you joined liquid?

flowsicK: I was thrilled to get started playing with the lineup and to play under adreNs In-Game Leading.

What do you think you bring to the team?

flowsicK: I bring a good amount of experience, insight, and level-headedness.

What is the dynamic like within the team?

flowsicK: Everything was rushed at first given our situation but we are quickly moving into a much more structured dynamic within the roster in regards to strategies and theories.

How would you describe your playstyle?

flowsicK: Very methodical and lurky with a hint of magic.

How did it feel taking those games off of fnatic and navi at Gfinity?

flowsicK: Felt really good to show a high level of potential with this lineup with the little practice we had.

What are the short and long term goals for you and for the team?

flowsicK: Win. Win anything and everything while fixing every mistake day by day.

Why do you think NA has not placed as well as EU teams?

flowsicK: Really just our practice they get to play against other countries in europe. We’re stuck with other north american teams, they get a glimpse of every other type of playstyle every day and lots of tournaments like every week for the us we’re fighting for tournaments every couple months.

Do you have any pregame rituals?

flowsicK: Just to make sure i don't go in cold. Get my daily deathmatch in with some team scrims.

How often do you practice? What do you generally go over?

flowsicK: Sunday to Thursday 6pm to about 12, depending on matches. We usually add on or fix anything that we noticed or picked up from demos.

Tell me about some of the things you do when you’re not playing CS

flowsicK: Currently enrolled in college, studying Computer Science and Political Science. I’m a huge basketball and football fan. Also the worlds biggest Entourage fan.

What is it you guys do that might set you apart from other teams in NA

flowsicK: I think we will surprise teams with some special CT plays that will catch them off-guard.

Do you have anything to say to any aspiring competitive players?

flowsicK: Just keep at it, and put in the hours correctly while having a good time.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

flowsicK: Big thanks to the Liquid staff and GO squad for welcoming me with open arms. Very excited for the future!
