The Alienware Training Facility layout is a deliberate skeleton of how we plan to use this new home. The open office approach reflects both our practical intentions and company culture. With a staff that works so closely among one another and across departments, we wanted to encourage collaboration by physically tearing down walls. The open office will be fluid and adaptable, ready to tetris into any configuration as our in-house staff grows even more in 2018.
For both our LCS teams, and our CS:GO team, personalized scrim rooms will provide a greater training atmosphere than ever before. With a focus on replicating tournament conditions, these rooms—alongside their respective replay screening rooms—will serve as the foundation of our support infrastructure. Our coaches, analysts, and managers, will utilize this wing of the training facility in their pursuit of ultimate team improvement.
When available, our staff will use these war rooms along with a dedicated conference room for meetings, relaxation, and even an occasional game or two on break. A server room is in place for managing a full-scale digital workplace environment, and of course our kitchen and cafeteria will ensure our players and staff are energized and well fed.
Constructing the AWTF
In 2017, we broke ground on our dream of a new home, and we’ve spent the past few months building our future. Since our initial announcement, hundreds of man hours have been poured into the construction of the all new Alienware Training Facility. At 9,000 square feet, and just minutes from Riot Games LCS Studio, this new location will change the way we play, practice, and work as an organization.
Our needs as an org are addressed literally from the ground up in this new facility. From the basic layout—an open office with a focus on function and collaboration—to the care and attention to electrical wiring in order to keep us powered, every decision made in planning and construction comes back to one goal: being the best esports team in the world.
A Growing Partnership
“The last time that you saw me, I was here at the office, but we were just in the planning phase. We didn’t really have any walls up; it was just a dream of what would come of the space. And so much has happened since then. We have entered into a partnership — this is year number 6 with Alienware — and our facility is now the Alienware Training Facility, which is unreal.”
A successful partnership requires an alignment of vision, and we’re fortunate to have found a partner that epitomizes performance and innovation. We’re excited to unveil our newly christened Alienware Training Facility, which will now serve as the foundation of our organization in North America.
We invite you to take a digital tour of our new headquarters, including a timelapse of construction, a walk through with Olleh, and a preview of 1UP Studios’ space.
Equipping Our Athletes
There are few things more crucial to an esports athlete than their hardware. Alienware ensures our players not only have the latest technologies in their machines, but also the ability to upgrade easily and conveniently so that they remain ahead of the curve. We’ve watched the Alienware Aurora evolve over the past several years, and Alienware’s dedication to improvement and innovation mirrors our own. Under the most stressful conditions—from max settings gaming and streaming, to high frame rate VR applications—the Aurora consistently performs. Without the stress of tech variables, our teams can focus on their practice and excellence in game.

“It’s very huge. Ah!”
The Alienware Training Facility is nearing completion, and we’re excited to show more of the space once it’s close to the finished product. In the meantime, join Olleh on a tour as Mike shows him around and introduces him to the various components that comprise our new headquarters.

The “Gaming House” Evolved
During the infancy of esports, the “gaming house” concept was a revolutionary idea that helped gamers dedicate their entire lives to their craft. However, esports has grown a lot since the early days, and sustainable success requires a more holistic approach to the idea of work.
We conceptualized our new facility as an evolution of the gaming house — retaining its advantages while eschewing its flaws. One of the priorities of this change is to focus on work-life balance. No one can function at their peak without a healthy routine that involves not just practice and training, but also socials, exercise, leisure, and time away from the office. Mental fatigue is a real issue in our high stress industry, and we want to create a culture that emphasizes the importance of personal wellbeing.
Inside, we’ve thoughtfully planned our facility with those goals. From our open office layout to our specifically chosen furniture — we even did research on ideal houseplants — we’re considering every element in our quest to provide the best possible work environment.
Home of 1UP Studios
At 1UP Studios, creative prowess meets production quality. The Alienware Training Facility includes a dedicated space where both of these core components of video creation can be put to the test. 1UP’s new home features all the bells and whistles of the rest of the AWTF, with a production house twist.
Filmmaking begins with ideation—in the central open office of the 1UP wing, the team will brainstorm and visualize the scene before the cameras come out. This space features RGB lighting to keep the creative juices flowing and a couch/pull-out bed hybrid for the inevitable overnight cram session. Through the doorway and direct video feed, this open office connects to the interview stage, where players and staff will feature in upcoming content.
Finally, in fully equipped editing bays, 1UP Post Production specialists will be able to work in complete focus with full privacy for review and feedback sessions. Here, editing, motion design, color correction, and more will be fine tuned on Alienware hardware for an efficient and streamlined mastering process.
With direct access to our in-office pro teams and operations, 1UP Studios will be closer to the action than ever before, enabling stronger bonds, workflow convenience, and even greater content.
Powering 1UP Studios
Our athletes rely on technology to power their game, and so do our creative teams for their applications. 1UP Studios’ post production team utilizes Alienware’s high-end model, the Area 51, to put the finishing touches and polish on your favorite Team Liquid video content. For an editor, motion designer, or colorist, technology should be a tool that enables the imagination, and with the Area 51’s impressive high performance options, even the biggest rendering jobs quickly become a reality.
